The Cirque du Soleil show selected for Houston’s trio of artists – Shag, Jason Limon and El Mac – is OVO. After El Mac and Jason Limon, we focus today on Los Angeles-based artist Shag.

 

The name and artwork of Shag (the nom de plume of Josh Agle) are immediately recognizable to any fan of retro, late-’50s/early-’60s chic. Informed by the techniques and aesthetics of classic Saturday-morning cartoons, vintage jazz record jackets and playful product packaging of that era, Shag’s works, celebrating the culture of cocktail lounges, tiki bars and bachelor pads, have been collected in numerous books and earned him exhibitions across the globe.
